DON'T MISS: |
What is Victorian Ribbonwork?? Simply put, it is the art of manipulation of ribbons to create flowers. Ribbons can be used to make roses, fuchsias, violets, pansies, leaves, buds--if it grows in a garden, chances are you can fashion it out of flowers. Then, the ribbonwork can be used for decoration on doll costuming, hats, frames, shoes, memory books, pillows, etc.
Here, you will learn about what types of ribbons to use for the ribbonwork, see some samples of the art, read about books and videos you can purchase to help you learn ribbonwork, and I will include instructions on some of the special techniques I have developed for extra-small ribbonwork!
The flowers shown are three examples of flowers made by Ribbonwork--on the left, two rosettes surrounded by vintage millinery leaves. The middle is a rose and leaves made from nearly sheer organdy French wire ribbons. To the right, a multi-folded fantasy flower with puff center. Oh--the picture at the top of the page is of my workbox, filled with various flowers and leaves all ready to be sewn into arrangements! |
